Some carriers (GLS, DPD, Austrian Post and others) require the house number as a separate field on the shipping label. Shopify, however, doesn't have a dedicated house number field — customers usually type it as part of the street in Address line 1, which can be unreliable.
If you want your customers to enter their house number explicitly into Address line 2 at checkout, ShipDock can take this value and send it to the carrier as the house number.
When the feature is enabled and the customer fills in Address line 2, ShipDock uses that value as the house number when creating the shipping label. The value is used as the house number field for the carrier and is no longer printed as additional address info, so it doesn't appear on the label twice.
The feature is disabled by default and applies to all carriers connected in ShipDock.
Open ShipDock → Settings → General.
Scroll to the Address handling section.
Turn on "Use address line 2 as house number" and save.
By default, Shopify labels the second address line "Apartment, suite, etc." — if you keep this label, customers will enter apartment numbers, floors or door codes, and those would end up as the house number on the label.
You must rename the field so it unambiguously says "House number":
In Shopify admin go to Online Store → Themes → ⋯ (three dots) → Edit default theme content (or Edit languages).
Search for "Apartment" (or address2).
Replace the label and placeholder with "House number" — don't mention apartment, suite or floor anywhere in the label.
If your store has multiple languages, update the translation in every language (e.g. "Hausnummer", "Číslo domu").
So that every order has a house number:
Go to Shopify admin → Settings → Checkout.
In the customer information section, set "Address line 2" to Required.
If the customer leaves the field empty, the address is processed as before — nothing changes for that order.
Whatever the customer types into the field is printed as the house number. That's why the label rename in step 2 is essential — with the default "Apartment, suite, etc." label you would get apartment numbers on your labels.
