How to add the pickup point widget to your store

The three ways your customers can choose a pickup point, which one fits your Shopify plan, and the setup steps in order.

When a customer chooses a pickup point shipping rate, they also need to choose the exact pickup point. ShipDock offers three ways to do that. Which one you use depends on your Shopify plan.

Choose how customers pick the pickup point

  • Pickup point selector on the Thank you and Order status pages: Any plan. Where the customer chooses: Right after the order, or later on the Order status page. Guide: How to add the pickup point widget to the Thank you and Order status pages.

  • Pickup point selector in checkout: Shopify Plus only. Where the customer chooses: In checkout, under the selected pickup point rate, before paying. Guide: How to add the pickup point widget to checkout (Shopify Plus).

  • Nearest pickup points as shipping rates: Any plan with carrier-calculated shipping. Where the customer chooses: In checkout: each nearby pickup point is its own shipping option, no widget. Guide: How to show the nearest pickup points as shipping rates.

  • Shopify Plus: add the block to checkout, and also to the Thank you and Order status pages. Those pages then show the chosen point and can let customers change it.

  • Other Shopify plans: add the block to the Thank you and Order status pages. If carrier-calculated shipping is active on your store, you can also offer the nearest pickup points as shipping rates, so customers choose in checkout.

Before you start

  • Connecting couriers and setting up their pickup point rates needs a paid ShipDock plan (Lite or higher). The widget on the Thank you and Order status pages needs one too.

  • The CCS - Dynamic Rates and CCS - Nearest Pickup Points options need carrier-calculated shipping on your Shopify store. Until it is active, they are greyed out with the badge Store don't support CCS.

Set it up

  1. In ShipDock, open Providers, connect your courier and open its Pickup points tab.

  2. In Choose integration, pick how the pickup point rates are created: Manual rates mapping, CCS - Dynamic Rates or CCS - Nearest Pickup Points. See How to set up shipping rates.

  3. In Shopify's checkout editor, add the Pickup point selector block to the Thank you and Order status pages, and on Shopify Plus also to Checkout. With CCS - Nearest Pickup Points alone, no widget is needed in checkout.

  4. In ShipDock, open Settings → Widget (Pickup points) and choose the Display mode (TY / OS page): Banner or List with Map. See How to choose the pickup point widget display mode.

  5. Optional: add your Google Maps key in the Google Map APIs card, so customers can pick on a map. See How to get a Google Maps API key for the pickup point map.

  6. Optional: turn on Change of pickup point after ordering on the same page. See How to let customers change their pickup point after ordering.

  7. Check the pickup point reminder email in Settings → Notifications. It asks customers who didn't choose a point to do so. See How to set up the pickup point reminder email.

Tip: The How it works banner on the courier's Pickup points tab lists these steps for the integration you chose, with direct links to the pages in Shopify's checkout editor.

What your customers see

  • Thank you and Order status pages: a red banner with a Select pickup point button that opens the courier's own map (Banner), or a pickup point list with search and an optional map directly on the page (List with Map).

  • Checkout on Shopify Plus: a list of the courier's nearest pickup points under the selected pickup point rate. The customer cannot finish the order until they choose a point.

  • Nearest pickup points as shipping rates: each nearby pickup point is a separate shipping option with its own price. Choosing the shipping option chooses the point.

On Shopify Plus you can also add the optional Packeta - Fields block, which asks for the name, email and phone of the person collecting the parcel. See How to add the pickup point widget to checkout (Shopify Plus).

Where you see the chosen pickup point

  • In the Shopify order: the order attributes PickupPointId, PickupPointName, PickupPointAddress and PickupPointProvider, and the tag packeta_selected. Orders still waiting for a point have the tag packeta_unselected.

  • In ShipDock Orders: the shipping column shows the pickup point, or Pickup point not selected. Click it to choose or change the point yourself.

  • The Shopify shipping address stays the customer's address unless you turn on the address replacement.
